Introducing Wild-Card Weekends + Style Spots

Yes, that's correct: Weekends on the Parsimonia blog are gonna be wild! No, not really (I'm quite the homebody), but Saturday posts will certainly be a melting pot of whatever happens to be...happening. This morning I hope to scoot around to some garage and estate sales to see what I can dig up. I have four on the docket that I pulled from Craigslist, and if I happen upon some along the way it'll be a welcome distraction!

The hubs and I did make a last-minute stop at the local Salvation Army after lunch yesterday afternoon, and it turned out to be a good move. I've been keeping an eye out for mid-century table lamps, and finally found one (for $8) to grace our living room!

I also picked up a handmade valance that's bright yellow with an embroidered design along the bottom third, and it fit perfectly (both in color and size) in our kitchen. I found a vintage square pillow with a cowboy riding a horse on the front and fringe along the sides (not as tacky as it sounds) for the store, some beautiful fabric, a crocheted baby blanket (to sell! sorry moms, no babies on the way), and an amazing set of three mid-century drinking glasses:

I got a discount because the tag said set of four, but the other blue one was nowhere to be found. Even though it'll be harder to sell an odd-numbered set, I figured it was worth the risk.

So, what are you up to this weekend? Going to any sales? Inspired to take a ride on the second-hand-style train? I certainly hope so. Drop me a note and fill me in! Would love to hear all about it!

  1. Love the lamp. Looks similar to the two you left at home:) I must say thought I have been the benefactor of your thrift purchases from the past so I can't complain that you started in The Lou.
