An Education

No, I'm not getting my days confused. I am aware that I featured one of Cary Mulligan's outfits on Thrifty Thursday yesterday, but I was so impressed with the costume design of the whole movie that redundancy didn't really seem to matter.

The movie takes place in Swinging Sixties in London, which was the fashion mecca during that period. Mod fashion and an "anything goes" attitude prevailed, complete with innovative and creative outfits, and a move from the pastels of the 1950s to bright and bold colors and prints.

The costume designer was Odile Dicks-Mireaux, who was nominated for a BAFTA Award for his work in this movie.

By far my favorite dress in the film

If you haven't seen the movie, I recommend you do. While the storyline hits on some less-than-comfortable things, the styling is so chic and the overall feel so carefree. It reminded me somewhat of The Great Gatsby. Anyone else?
