Mid-Century Monday: ModernSTL

I've been a Midwestern transplant in Santa Monica for almost 5 years now, but I still like to keep up with what's going on in The Lou (St. Louis, that is...). This morning I was perusing the Post-Dispatch website and was so excited to read about a new organization that's started there called ModernSTL.

Their goal is to draw attention to and celebrate the city's mid-century modern architecture, and their site lists MCM homes, schools, churches and office buildings in the city. They also feature MCM homes that are for sale, properties that are at risk of being torn down, and online tours of neighborhoods boasting the beautiful architecture of the iconic era.

On Nov. 18 (this Thursday!) they're having a kick-off party at the Atomic Cowboy on Manchester from 5-8 pm. So if you love mid-century & St. Louis, I suggest you go! (If you do, send me pics!)

  1. Thanks so much for the post! We are all passionate about MCM in STL and hope we can raise a lot of awareness and appreciation. Spreading the word helps. Also, I love that there are St. Louisans in ever little corner of the world and all of them still want to keep up - this town is special and "home" to so many great people.

  2. Hey Amy! It's so true! Once you've grown up in St. Louis, it's always "home" to some extent. I'm really excited to see what y'all are doing there. If you have any photos from the kick-off event, I'd be happy to post them here and help spread the word a little. Just let me know!
