Shacking Up With the Styleses {Master Bedroom}

I am so excited for today. The weather is beautiful (sunny and in the 60s), and the hubs and I will be making the most of it by working some more in the garden. But before I head out into the sunshine, it's time for the next stop on the house tour: our bedroom!

This is by far the least-finished room. We have a bed, a chair and a lamp. That's it. So please pardon all the suitcases on the floor. :) Luckily we have a walk-in closet, so at least some of our clothes and shoes have a home. But we're in dire need of a dresser, and I'm crossing my fingers that we can also find a vintage vanity/dressing table set for not too much money. Right now the bed covers up those two built-in cubbies, and it's kind of driving me nuts. But we're waiting until we get the other furniture to see about moving it onto a different wall.

I love that this room has a lot of windows (three that face north, towards the front of the house, and one on the east side). So when we wake up it's nice and bright. It also has a little nook where I've placed that green chair and ottoman that I thrifted a while back, and I've been using it as a little reading/computing cubby.

Changes to look for down the road include a duvet cover, a bed skirt (eek!), some art on the walls, nightstands, aforementioned dresser and vanity, and maybe some curtains. We'll hopefully be here a while, so there's plenty of time and it'll be a slow-going process.

The New

> A king mattress pad and pillows from T.J. Maxx

> King sheet set from Target (I love their Home Collection linens, and these are wrinkle-free!)

The Thrifted

> The bed was free on Craigslist

> The quilt came from an NCJW thrift store in Venice, before their prices got ridiculous.

> The green chair and ottoman came from a thrift store in Ballwin

> The lamp came from a Salvation Army in Arnold

> The hamper is a long-ago pick from a garage sale in Venice

That's it for today. Tomorrow we'll hit up my craft/creative room; after that there's the hallway and the back yard, and that's about it! Hope you've enjoyed!

  1. I'm sure it will be fun to hit the thrifts for your bedroom essentials. That's a big, bright, beautiful room brimming with potential. It's already looking cute!

  2. I love love love the light! Our master has no windows given the two additions someone added on and my husband calls it the "hyperbaric chamber". I'm not a fan...
    The nooks and that triple window are pretty rad as well.
    I would love to see more of your (fabulous) walk in closet set up; i.e. the little bookshelf/dresser with your jewelry above it.

  3. Thanks ladies! And Nicolette, I shall try and remember to take a closer pic inside the closet. We actually lucked out b/c the bookshelf was already there, and the left side on the wall is covered in hooks, which was perfect for jewelry!
