New Arrivals This Week!

Hello, my lovelies! Happy, happy Friday! I hope your week has been wonderful, and that you have some fun things planned for the weekend. Last night I found myself yelling at the TV and hugging my dog a little too tight while watching the World Series game. Our Redbirds came through (Yay!), and I'm SO excited to watch (or at least listen to!) the games this weekend. Today, however, we have a break from the excitement, so if you find yourself out and about on South Grand in Tower Grove today, do stop by to check out the new vintage merchandise that has been hitting the racks all week.

I've pulled together a little sampling of what I found for you all this past weekend. If you see something you like, don't hesitate to contact me via email (secondhwithstyle(at)gmail(dot)com) or through Facebook with any questions!

Sucre Shop @ the Parsimonia Store

Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting Brooke of Sucre Shop at the Parsimonia Store for a little stop and drop. That's right: We're now carrying the cutest (and locally made, mind you!) wooden utensils you've ever seen. And I'm sure you've seen them. They've been featured in most major women's magazines, tons of blogs and most recently at the newly opened West Elm in The Galleria.

I've had the privilege of getting to know Brooke over the past year, and she is just the sweetest! And I'm so happy she is willing to give her goods a try at this little store o' mine. Here are some of the products we currently have in stock (including their new wooden gift tags!)...

And then, as the holidays draw near, we'll be putting out some super cute gift tags, Thanksgivukkuh utensils and ones with Fair Isle sweater patterns!

So be sure and pick some up so you can outfit your next party with even more fun! We're open Wednesday and Thursday, 11-7; Friday and Saturday, 11-8; and Sunday, 12-5! Come see us at 3194 S. Grand in Tower Grove! :-)

Parsimonia Gets "Framed"

Whew. I tell ya what, friends. I am s-t-r-u-g-g-l-i-n-g this afternoon. Last night, Holly and I ventured out to Craftoberfest to sell our vintage goods, and I think I officially have a hangover from the amount of fun we had (okay...and maybe the beer I consumed). :-)

It was (and always is) incredibly awesome to meet so many new people, including those of you who follow Parsimonia on Facebook and Instagram (so nice to put some faces with handles!). So thank you to those of you who were able to come out and support small local biz. I hope you had a stupendously dumb amount of fun!

Some of you might remember a couple photos I posted some weeks ago involving a photo shoot with another local business, Indie Mats. The ladies behind this company have created something I think is really smart and really cute to boot. They're called "Framers," and it's basically very thick framing mats that you put photos into, but they're printed with all these beautiful modern designs (including some of Amy Butler's!) and come with double-sided sticky squares that you use to hang them on the wall, sans an actual frame.

Anywho...Emma, one of the founders, contacted me about using Holly as a prop to shoot their new line, and we also used some spots in the new brick-and-mortar store. We started the early in the morning at a spot in Forest Park to take some photos with the trailer, which I think turned out cute!

Then we took a small break and met up at the Parsimonia store, where we arranged some frames above the mantel in the lounge area, on clothing racks, ladder displays and lots more. I was even wrangled in there for some shots. Luckily, I was wearing one of my favorite new vintage dresses. :-)

Of course, Sadie had to get in on the action. She's such a camera...well, you know the rest. ;-)

Emma even created a cute little slideshow video documenting the fun had that day. Check it out!

Be sure and pop over to the Indie Mats site when you get a chance and scope out their new line. Would be a great way to gift some sweet snapshots of friends and family! I, personally, fell in love with the colorful honeycomb pattern, and the Amy Butler florals.

Red Velvet + New Arrivals

Earlier this week I made the trek down to Springfield, Mo., for the Red Velvet estate sale. Those of you who, like me, are fans of the A Beautiful Mess blog and the sisters who run it, can appreciate the combination of excitement and bittersweet that enveloped the day. Excited to be taking home a piece of that beautiful vintage store, and sad that it will no longer be there once this weekend is over.

But, the happy end of the story is those ladies have a ton of fun projects in the works, and these pieces they're passing along will go on to homes and bring joy to vintage-lovers. I was excited to find some stuff to bring back to the Parsimonia Store, and I also did some thrifting in the smaller towns sprinkled throughout the route between St. Louis and Springfield. So... I thought it'd be fun to start posting photos each week of the new arrivals to the store, and that's what we're doing today!

Keep in mind that I have a big pile of goodies that need some minor mending that also came from Red Velvet, so that's how I'll be spending my upcoming day off. :-) Stay tuned next week for those arrivals!

I also brought a couple souvenirs home from Red Velvet; one thing to use as a display piece, and another just for fun.

The former is the top ladder you see in this picture, which really allowed me to expand the usefulness of the two ladders I already had in there (and help put those purses on display more!)

And the latter (not ladder, mind you!), are the wooden "Mad Men" signs the girls had hanging on the ends of some dress racks at Red Velvet that held outfits the lady characters of said TV show would probably wear. I put them over the bar cart in the back of the store to add to the "happy place" vibe.

But back to the goods...feel free to contact me (secondhandwithstyle(at)gmail(dot)com or call the store at 314-282-5201) if you have any questions about specific pieces in this post, or come on by and see 'em in person at 3194 S. Grand in Tower Grove! We're open Friday and Saturday 11-8; Sunday 12-5; and Wednesday and Thursday 11-7!

Laters! :-)
