Modern Vintage Travel-Themed Party (Or Happy First Birthday, Nora!)
This past August the hubs and I traveled to Omaha for our niece Nora's first birthday party, and I've finally gotten around to editing the photos to share will you all!
My sweet sister-in-law asked if I would help plan the big day, and she wanted it to have a travel theme, so we did a mix of modern prints and colors with vintage elements like old suitcases and globes, an old pull-down world map and blue Ball jars.
We also took some embroidery hoops, filled them with vintage fabric, and sewed pieces of vintage trim on them to create a hot air balloon. Then we tied some teal berry baskets from them to complete the look!
Mom and dad put their baking skills to good use and made a variety of cupcakes in lieu of one big birthday cake, and we put some hot air balloon picks in them to tie in the travel theme.
My sis-in-law also put together some super cute favor bags with inflatable globes, and her family cooked up some amazing dishes, which we happily ate with Sucre Shop utensils.
When it came time for little Nora to dig in to her first cupcake, she carefully pondered and poked it before happily offering bites to mommy and daddy.
Once everyone was hopped up on sugar, presents were opened, drinks tubs were played in, kids ran amok in the backyard, and then everyone went home with happy hearts and full tummies. :-)
Our other niece, Phoebe, had quite the cute celebration, too, just a week before! Be sure and hop over to Camille's blog and check out the fun!
